1859 Jail and Marshal’s Home

ELITE Paranormal of Kansas City investigated the 1859 Jail and Marshal’s Home in Independence, Missouri in July of 2012. This was part of our double investigation at two locations on the Independence Square.
During our investigation of the Jail, we did have some strange noises and EMF spikes in the upstairs portion of the Jail. Upon review of our evidence, we did capture quite a few very loud EVPs in this area of the building. We were unable to capture and photographic or video evidence in the portion of the location.
The Marshal’s home did not seem to have much in the way of activity on the night we investigated. During our past investigation of this location a few years ago, we did have quite a few EVPs here. We worked in both the upstairs bedrooms and the parlor and office downstairs.
We also concentrated our efforts in the Jail Cells on the main floor and we were able to capture some EVPs here as well. The cells can be very creepy when you are isolated inside one. This must have been a horrible experience for the prisoners. It is said that during the Civil War, these cells were stuffed to capacity.
During our time at the location, we did not have much in the way of personal experiences but this can sometimes be deceiving.
